Spirituality and Art Series – Spring Session
“All Verdant Greening”
Facilitator: Sr. Tina Geiger
March 24 to 26, 2023
From Saint Hildegard of Bingen (b. 1098), a “Rhineland Mystic”:
a renaissance woman, an abbess, writer, composer, and visionary:
“The Word is living, being, spirit,
All verdant greening,
The Word is living, being, spirit, All creativity.
This word is in everything Seen and unseen
This word is manifest in all In each and every being”
The spiritual approach to creating art does not focus upon producing an outcome/product but rather is about the Sacred creating and re-creating our inner selves and our awareness of such “verdant greening”, through deep reflection on the art making process. As we seek with intentional awareness God’s Presence in our created world, using mediums of pencil, colored pencil, markers, collage, clay and watercolor, we will find our true selves: ‘God’s work of art…” Ephesians 2:10
No art experience necessary… bring an open heart!
Sr. Tina Geiger, RSM, Co-Director of Catholic Rural Ministry- Oil City Deanery, enjoys the contemplative process of art making. She is a trained spiritual director.
